The Internet is the best place to share your ideas with the world, due to its ease of use and the potential scope of reach that your ideas might have with people. However, it is also important to know which tools to use to better enhance and assist you in sharing your ideas with the world.
Even though there are a number of platforms to use when it comes to share your ideas with the world, nothing beats WordPress when it comes to share what you have in your heart with the world. In this post we are going to talk about a few reasons why you should use WordPress and not any other tool as your preferred platform to share your ideas with the world.
Its important to note, however that i am not referring to the WordPress.com, but the WordPress.org and there are a few differences between the two. More about that is reserved for a future article that i plan to publish in order to help you differentiate between the two.
1. Its Free
It may sound like a cliché, but it is not. The online landscape is one that thrives on free good and bad tools. I mention both good and bad because not everything that is free is good and not everything is either bad. However, this publishing tool is the best of its kind and its latest version has been downloaded at the time of this writing more than 2 473 000 and still counting.
The main reason why it is being so widely used is because it is both good and free. You may be asking if it is that good why is it free? After all there is nothing for free right? Well not so right, at least when it comes to WordPress. It is free because it is an Open Source Project, which means there are hundreds of people working on it.
2. Its easy to Install
Installing WordPress is very simple and straight forward, especially with the five minutes install that many web hosting companies such as Hostgator offer today. All you need to start is to have a domain name registered on a domain registrar such as Namecheap.
3. Its easy to Learn
Learning WordPress is easy as long as you set time aside to learn it, starting from this blog or just by searching on whatever you may want to learn about it on Google. In fact Google is a great place to start if you want to search for anything related to the subject. But the best place to start from is the very home of the WordPress Project, on its very website wordpress.org.
4. Its Search Engine Friendly
Having a publishing tool online is a great thing, but that effort can amount to almost nothing if it is not search engine friendly. And that is where WordPress comes to your aid, it is actually designed to be found by the search engines. Because it is such a great tool for publishing content, and that is what the search engines are looking for. Meaning that the more content you produce the chances to be found online increase.
5. Its potential to extend itself
Even though it was first designed as a blogging tool, over the years it has grown to become more than that. Especially due to the multitude of Plugins that are available to extend the functionality of the platform. In fact plugins are just that, small pieces of code/software that enhance the functionality of WordPress.
Depending on whatever you may want to do with it, you may start as just a simple blog but overtime may want to turn it into a Website, Media Tool, e-commerce site, and so on. Whatever you may want to do with it, there is already a plugin created for it, the Plugin Repository already boasts 27 655 plugins. That is more than one could actually need for one site, and the reason for that being that it was especially designed to share ideas with your world.
6. The great community of followers
In life no one is an island and the success of any tool and platform in today’s world depends largely on the quality of followers and the community it has. And the success of this publishing tool is largely due to its enthusiastic community of both developers, programmers, and simple enthusiasts. So as you choose to start using WordPress, you can be assured that you are not alone as there are a lot o people who contribute to the development of the platform and to assist those that are just starting out.
7. The Multitude of Themes it Offers
Usually when you install WordPress for the first time it comes with its default themes or templates, these are what give the platform its beauty and the look you desire. If you do not like the default look that ships with it when you first install you can head directly to the Themes Repository and choose the ones you like. You can change your theme whenever you like, there are currently 2097 themes on the WordPress repository and they are all free.
Obviously there are also premium themes that come with some added functionality and exclusivity to it, however, the best place to start from is with the free themes.
8. It Gives You Peace of Mind
With the greats Cyber attack on the Internet, security is one of the greatest concerns not only to users and owner of web platforms, but also to web developers at large. Having been a victim of cyber attacks in the past itself, WordPress always makes sure that it is constantly secure. More especially through its constant security updates, and since the most recent version 3.7 i t offers automatic updates.
All of this is designed to give you the peace of mind you want and not be concerned whether your site will be attacked or not. In addition to that, there are also services and plugins designed especially to offer added security to your site.
9. It Powers 18.9 percent of the entire web space
That is to say that from all websites that are on the web 18.9 percent are powered by WordPress.
10. It is User Friendly
One of the features that makes this platform so popular and at the same time loved by many is due to its ease of use. By that i mean that you can add content, images, media, and make the changes you wish to make without having to know any programming language.
You see, this platform is so easy to use that all you need to start is a basic knowledge of how to use a computer. In fact if you can switch on a computer and type a document on it, you can easily use WordPress thanks to its easy visual editing tool.
I hope this article was conving enough to persuade you to use WordPress as the ideas tool and platform to publish content and share your greatest ideas online.
It is up to you now, do you have any other reasons to use WordPress or not to use for that matter? Share with us on the comments.
